According to the Environmental Working Group, the average woman puts 515 synthetic chemicals on her body every day without knowing. Eeek! It’s difficult to decipher all the ingredients in products, but we’ve made it easy for you to work out which chemicals to avoid.
Now you know of all the chemicals that could be lurking in your favourite nearly empty moisturiser or toner, it’s time to make the switch to a toxin-free alternative. The Clean Beauty Swap encourages not only our clients but the entire Gold Coast community to switch to a more natural and toxin-free approach to their beauty routine.
So how does it work?
Simply bring in an old product, such as mascara, moisturiser or deodorant to our Beauty Shop located in Mudgeeraba (just off the M1 at Exit 79) and we’ll give you 20% off your clean alternative. For example, bring in an empty old MAC lipstick tube and we’ll help you find a new cleaner shade and give you 20% off the retail price.
We have over 450 products to choose from, including Australian brands such as; Ere Perez Cosmetics, Vanessa Megan Skincare, Mukti Organics, Eco Tan, Eye of Horus, Black Chicken, Inika Cosmetics and many more. What will we do with all the old products donated?
Well, beauty packaging actually can’t be recycled in our normal kerbside collection. Because of the different materials many cosmetics packaging is made from such as glass, plastic and aluminium, this packaging has to be disassembled before recycling each part separately.
Therefore, all donations will be given to Terracycle, an organisation that clean, disassemble and ensure our pots, tubs and tubes don’t end up in landfill.
Recycling beauty products isn’t only for the month of June! We recycle beauty packaging of any kind all-year-round. You can bring in your empties to your next appointment, or on your way past the spa! In our Beauty Shop, we have a @terracycleaus drop box to collect any cosmetic, hair care or skin care packaging.
